Royal Perth Bentley Group celebrates long-serving staff

The Royal Perth Bentley Group has paid tribute to its long-serving staff – people whose careers have spanned global disasters, medical breakthroughs and the evolution of our health system over the past four decades.
At ceremonies held across Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) and Bentley Health Service (BHS) recently, staff were recognised for reaching the remarkable milestones of 20, 30 and 40 years of service.
Together, they represented more than 5,000 combined years of dedication to the health and wellbeing of West Australians.
At RPH, Executive Director Ben Noteboom reflected on the profound experiences these staff have carried with them – caring for the first patients diagnosed with AIDS in the 1980s, preparing wards to receive survivors of the Bali bombings, supporting accident victims and grieving families, and helping countless patients take their first steps on the long road to recovery.
“Decade after decade, year after year, week after week – we can only help the people that we do because of your efforts and commitment,” Ben said.
For many, like long-serving nurse Meredyth Haigh, (pictured below) the journey has been one of resilience and dedication.
Reflecting on her career, Meredyth said what has remained constant through all the change is her commitment to her patients, her colleagues and her team.
“Being in the profession for 40 years take resilience and fortitude. Professionally my focus has always been the team – from professors to volunteers and everyone in between,” she explained.
