State Spinal and Scoliosis Service
The Service comprises the Spinal Injuries Unit and the Scoliosis/Spinal Deformity Unit.
Our team of surgeons provide 24 hours per day, 7 days per week state-wide cover.
Each year about 750 patients are treated. Half are treated for spinal injuries and 51 patients were admitted with spinal cord injuries.
In addition, the Spinal Service provides advice regarding the management of many other spinal injured patients within the East Metropolitan Health Service and throughout WA.
Weekly clinics for scoliosis/spinal deformity and degenerative spinal conditions are held at RPH Goderich Street Outpatients.
Members of our department are actively involved with research, medical student and registrar training activities.
The five sub-specialised fellowship-trained orthopaedic spinal surgeons accredited to this service are:

Other members include spinal fellows, specialised nursing staff, allied health staff, accredited training registrars and interns.
