Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery is the medical speciality concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and the extra-cranial cerebrovascular system.
The WA Statewide Neurosurgery Service is provided at:
- Royal Perth Hospital (traumatic brain injuries)
- Fiona Stanley Hospital (elective spinal service)
- Perth Childrens Hospital (paediatrics)
- Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
A team of registrars are employed under the state-wide service and work across each campus.
RPH has 15 beds in the neurosurgical unit. Emergency theatres are available 24 hours a day.
