Landmark win for Leandri
One of Royal Perth Hospital’s very own, Leandri Snellenburg, enjoyed a crowning moment last Saturday when she received the ‘Excellence in Enrolled Nursing’ trophy at the prestigious WA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Securing her first nomination at the state awards was an honour by itself, but beating out stiff competition to win the award was certainly a landmark moment.
“It was a really good night!” Leandri said.
“I was very hopeful that I would win but you don’t really want to get your hopes up. So, I was quite surprised and very happy that I won.”
The young nurse who joined RPH in March 2022 following a diploma from North Metropolitan TAFE, said nursing was never really on her radar.
“I always wanted to be a vet but couldn’t really deal with sick animals, so I decided to do sick people instead – and I love it!”
Working on the General Surgery ward and greatly enjoying it, Leandri is also pursuing a degree in Registered Nursing from Edith Cowan University and is currently completing a month-long practical rotation at Broome Hospital.
Congratulations Leandri on your WANMEA win – from all of us here at RPBG, we look forward to seeing you grow your career with us!
